Miss Shirley Kitson, Te Kuiti, is visiting Mrs. lan Grant. Miss Hird, Rugby Road, will leave today for a holiday at Wellington. The Norfolk Women’s Institute held a jolly social in the schoolroom. Songs by Messrs B. Dombroski and O’Sullivan and a violin solo by Valerie Voitrekovsky were much enjoyed, also a paper hat competition, which caused a lot of fun, the hat having to be made with one sheet of paper and six pins. The winners were Mrs. Byrne and Mr. M. Burgess. Supper was served by the ladies. Mrs. Bertram returned on Monday after spending a holiday with Mrs. lan Caldwell, Feilding. Mrs. A. Grant was “at home” to some friends on Monday afternoon. Miss W. Whittington, who has been spending a few days at Hawera, returned this week. Mrs. Nutting is indisposed. Mrs. T.. Wright, who has been the guest of Mrs. D. Wright, Durham Road, has left for Hastings. Mrs. D’Arcy Cameron left for Auckland to meet her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R, O’Carroll, who arrived by the Mariposa last Saturday after spending a holiday at Sydney. They all returned to Inglewood by car on Sunday. Mrs. Jeromson, Manaia, is visiting Mrs Ross. Mrs. W. Bailey, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. Minchin. . Mrs. Messenger entertained at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Bedingfield, Durham Road, will return to-day after spending holidays in the King Country. Miss Nicholson has returned from Cambridge. Mrs. Whitaker, Norfolk Road, has returned from a holiday spent at Whangamomona. , A very successful dance was given by the young bachelors of Dudley Road in the scho'ol on Friday night, when a large gathering assembled and an enjoyable time was spent. Mrs. Timms has returned from a trip to Te Kuiti. Miss M. Leech, who has been visiting Mrs. W. Hutchens, Wapganui, has returned. At the residence of Miss Trimble the Norfolk Road W.E.A. met on Thursday evening, when W. E. Gladstone’s life was read. “The Comforter,” by Lawrence Houseman, which deals with the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Gladstone, was also read and found most interesting. Mrs. L. Clark is spending r holiday at Hawera. « Mesdames Kaye, A. Grant, R. Stuart, Woods and 1 Smith were visitors last week to the Tarata Women’s Institute. Miss Coyne, Makahu, is the guest of Mrs. Coyne, Bristol Road. The Inglewood combined basketball clubs held a very successful euchre party and/ dance in the town hall on Wednesday evening to entertain the Wellington team. A large number attended. Harris’ orchestra supplied the music and supper was served by the ladies. Mrs. F. Hodges, Durham Road, and her daughter Erice, are spending a few days at NgamotU with Mrs. Wheeler. Mrs. E. Weston, who has been visiting Mrs. Farquhar, returned to Fitzroy this week. The play-reading circle of the Inglewood Women’s Institute held a fhg bridge evening on Monday at the residence of Mrs. Leech. Five tables were engaged. Prizes were won by Mr. Maetzig, Mesdames Goy and Porter. Mrs. V. Arthur is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Humphries, Stratford. Miss , Noel Armstrong has returned from New Plymouth. The members of the play-reading circle of the Inglewood Women’s Institute met at Miss Corney’s residence on Friday last week, when “The Annual Jumble Sale,” by J. Darmondy was read and enjoyed. Those present included Mesdames Dansie, Leech, Adnams, Braybrooke, Lindsay, Porter, Misses Trimble, Comey and Leech.
