NORTH EGMONT AFFAIRS

WORK ON THE MOUNTAIN. Reporting on work during the month, the manager (Mr. H. A. Nodder) informed the North Committee of the Egmont National Park Board meeting at New Plymouth, that 11 new rustic seats had been made and erected in suitable places. The track from the hostel to the old house had been repaired and new steps had been cut. Repairs had been made to the bunks in the old house. A week had been spent on the tracks generally improving them. A bad slip had occurred at the foot of the ridge leading to Humphries Castle, and a new track would be made at that point.

Interior painting had been done at the hostel and a new clinker brick fireplace in the lounge completed. The plough recently purchased had proved a great success. Present at the meeting were Messrs. J. S. Connett (chairman), G. W. Gibson, W. H. Skinner, F. Amoore, W. M. Groombridge, W. H. Moyes, F. H. Waters and E. W. M. Lysons.
