PLANE MAKES SAFE LANDING
GEORGE WALKER ARRIVES BY AIR. Captain Hewett, of Falcon Airways, made an excellent landing in a field, at the back of Miss Rawle’s farm about a mile and a-half west di Stratford shortly after 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and George Walker, welLknown New Zealand professional wrestler, had arrived to fulfill his engagement against “Whiskers” Blake. Captain Hewett, with Walker as his passsngsr, left: Wellington about 1.30 p in. The machine . just tipped a hedge in alighting, but the landing was perfect. The plane, has been pegged down in the shelter of a couple of hay s-.acks and is ready to leave for Auckland this morning. In conversation wit.i a News reporter, Captain Hewett said uiey had an enjoyable flight and travelled at , a comfortable cruising speed, the trip being without incident. He pat.l a tribute to the air sense of George Walker .and mentioned that he piloted the wrestler from Auckland to Christchurch, back- to Wellington, where they stayed last/ night, and had reached .Stratford en route for home again. Captain Hewett has landed twice on the same field unaided by the usual facilities of a proper flying-ground. He was met be officials of the' newly formed Stratford Aero Club and members of the Stratford Wrestling Association. A considerable number of person made their way across country to inspect the landing.
