TARIKI DISTRICT NEWS
PERSONAL AND GENERAL. The Tariki school basketball team visited Norfolk Road last week to play with Kaimata school to decide who should meet the winner of the Western Division, Tariki gaining the victory by 10 to 6. The heavy rain of the last three days has left the low-lying land inundated and the rivers of the district very high. The Tariki first junior Rugby team met Cardiff on the Tariki Domain and was victorious by 5 to 0. A Mahon scored a try and R. Rumball converted. Mr. G. Knowles, Tariki Road, is spending a few days at New Plymouth. Mr. E. James has returned to Manurewa after a short visit to his uncle, Mr. Reg. James. Mr. Horace Loveridge left for Pukekohe last week. He will reside there Mrs. Body and son, Taumarunui, and Mr. B. James, Manurewa, are the guests of Mrs. James senr., Surrey Road. Mr. A. James, Manurewa, is the guest of Mr. Reg James. The committee has arrangements well in hand for the Tariki footballers’ dance next Thursday. Patrons are assured of a real night’s enjoyment. A new dance band will be introduced. There will be novelty dances, including a big Monte Carlo with first and second prizes and good euchre prizes. The euchre will not commence until after the arrival of free buses from Stratford and Inglewood. Particulars are advertised.
