On the following day Satoh (Japan) beat Boussus (France), 6 —4, 2—6, 6—4; Nunoi (Japan) beat Merlin, 4—6, B—6, 6—l; Satoh and Nunoi (Japan) defeated Merlin and Bernard (France), 4—6, 9—7, 6—4; Kirby and Farquharson (South Africa) defeated Journu and Legeay (France), 6—4, 6—2. Farquharson (South Africa) defeated Itoh (Japan), 7—5, B—6. Japan and South Africa thus tie with five wins each
