MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB’S RESULTS. HANDICAP AGGREGATE FINISHED. The first A grade handicap competition held by the men’s miniature branch of the New- Plymouth Defence Rifle Club was completed at this week’s shoot and resulted in a win for W. F. Short with an aggregate of 832 f points, O. P. George being second with 829 j points. For the junior button L. Higginson and S. Bird tied, Bird winning the shoot-off. Following are the results, the scores off the rifle counting for the championship.

A Grade: W. Short 69 —68—3J — O. George 67—70—3—140, C. H. Moore 6f—--68-3|-137f, S. Higgs F. C. Hogg 76—67—31—1372, G. H. Taylor 66—67—3—136.

B Grade: W. Gilbert 66——712, J. Mallon 65—52—701, R- Reichenback 64—6—70, S. Bird 66—32—692, F. Huthnance 66—3— 69, B. Jury 62—62—682, G. Stevens 62— 62-682, F. Morris 64-41-682, N. Lealand 62—6—68, -L. Higginson 61—52—662, A. Smith 60—6—66, A. Newall 59—6—65, N. Damey 59—6 —65. Shooting will be continued on Monday night and a teams match will be fired on Thursday night. RESULTS IN THE LADIES’ BRANCH. GREATLY IMPROVED STANDARD. The attendance was very good at the ladies’ night on Tuesday and the shooting was of a much improved standard. The senior button was won by Miss P. Hogg with the first “all but” of the season for the ladies, while conclusions for the junior button were fought out between Miss Gillespie and Miss F. Hogg, each making 66 and then 63, Miss Gillespie proving the winner with 65. The junior handicap competition resulted in a win for Miss E. Linn with an aggregate of 208, Miss Burton being second with 204, and Misses A. Florence and G. Gillespie third equal with 203. Tlie scores are: Miss M. Lawn 61 lo 74, Miss L. Burton 60—10 —70, Miss E. Linn 63-5-68, Miss G. Gillespie 63—4— 67, Miss F. Hogg 60-5-65, Miss J. Maine 60—5—65 and Miss A. Florence 59-4—63. Results in the championships are:— Seniors: Misses S. Papps 67, A. Bell 66 P Hogg 66, C. Kretschmar 66, I. Papps 66* R, Reeve 65, R. Death 64, N. Beal 61. Juniors: Misses G. Gillespie 63, E. Linn 63, M. Lawn 61, L.. Burton 60, F. Hogg J. Maine 60, A. Florence 59, J. Beal s®. In the second shoot for the second of the senior handicap competitions the, scores were: Miss C. Kretschmar 66-4-70, Miss S. Papps 67-2-69, Mi?s A. BeU 66-2-68, Miss P. Reeve An innovation in the ladles club is the installation of a ladder, the three highest competition scores of every-four to be counted. The places will be altered every. Tuesday night if necessary. At present Miss I. Papps and Miss Reeve share pride of place.
