CEILDHI AT OKATO.

SEVENTY-FIVE COUPLES ATTEND.

•. A successful ceildhi was held on Thursday evening by the New Plymouth Caledonian Society and the Okato Football Club at Hempton Hall, Okato. There were 75 couples present. Messrs; A. Rankin arid Carey, respective club presidents, opened the dance. The officers and committee were in full Highland dress and were piped in by Pipers F. S. Kirkland and J. Hannah. The dance opened with the grand march, followed by old-time Scottish and modem dances. Vocal items were given by Mr. F. Baird. Mr. F. Williams played the accompaniments. Good exhibitions of the sword dance and the reel o’ Tulloch were given by the Misses G. Sharman, D. and P. Quay, I. Maclntyre and B. Sarten. The Dutch waltz clog by little Bernice Sarten was popular. Mr. A. Kirkland piped for the Highland dances and Mrs. L. Sarten played for the Dutch clog. Williams’ Versatile Orchestra played for the dancing. Pipers H. S. Kirkland, J. Hannah and J. Irons and Drummer R. Cumming played for the Scottish dances. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. N. Bremer and Mr. J. Crawford. A splendid supper was served under the capable supervision of the Okato ladies’ committee. Messrs. A. Rankin and MacCracken were masters of ceremonies.
