TARANAKI WOMEN’S CLUB.

The members of the Taranaki Women’s Club needlecraft circle, with Mrs. W. L. Ewart convener and Mrs. C. E. Williams secretary, has met each Wednesday afternoon for the past two and a half months for the purpose of making garments for the Mayor’s relief fund. During that period the work has been done at the request of. the various nursing organisations, and garments numbering over 300 have been supplied. Donations amounting to £ll 9s. for material and 50 yards of flannel were given by the circle members, while the remainder of the material used was supplied by the relief council. In addition to the garments several quilts composed of wool squares knitted by pupils of the Girls’ High School were mounted on cretonne by members of the circle. The arts and crafts circle has been busy with several new and fascinating crafts, intarsia, bead-threading on gold and silver wire and coromandel lacquer work.
