HANDCUFFED IN CABIN
DIVING STOWAWAY DEPORTED MONTH IN MOUNT EDEN PRISON. EXTRA PRECAUTIONS ABOARD SHIP CLOSE WATCH ON FRITZ KREUZER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. After spending nearly a month in Mount Eden Prison the German stowaway Fritz Kreuzer, who jumped overboard from the Mariposa when she was leaving Auckland for Sydney last month and swam ashore, was deported on the company’s liner Monterey, which left for Sydney to-night. To see he did not escape again a Customs officer travelled on the Monterey to the pilot anchorage. After ascertaining the stowaway was still aboard the officer returned to Auckland in the pilot boat. .
Extra precautions are being taken to ensure Kreuzer does not escape. After being taken aboard the Monterey by the police he was handcuffed with his hands behind his back and later he was securely locked in a special apartment. He will be kept in the room handcuffed until he is handed over to the police at Sydney.
