BEAM RADIO VAGARIES
INVESTIGATION BY BOARD. PECULIARITIES OF RECEPTION. ■ By' Telegraph—Press ‘ Assn.—Copyright London, July 12. The vagaries of the Empire beam wireless are disconcerting the Broadcasting Corporation. Reports show that the changed wave-length has improved Australian reception but New Zealand does not participate, although West Africa’s 25 metres transmitted on the new aerial design hits New Zealand on the reverse side after a long peregrination. Similarly Canada participates in Australia’s programmes which are projected westerly although it is the 25 metres broadcast which is received, not the expected 19. ' - ’
Beginning to-day, engineers will experiment with a 49 metres wave-length to Australia in order to ascertain if New Zealand is embraced.
