SILVER SMUGGLERS’ CASES

REFUSAL TO GRANT REHEARING.

By Telegraph—Press Associatioii. Wellington, July 13.

Appeals by way of a re-hearing made in the Supreme Court to-day by William Henry Noy, seventh engineer, and Stanley Arthur Smith, second officer, of the Marama, against convictions on charges of attempting to export silver from New Zealand were dismissed by Mr. Justice Ostler.

Mr. Justice Ostler said the inference was irresistible that the silver was collected for one purpose only/ and that was the export of it for profit.
