STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS.

The weather will be unsettled in western and far southern districts and heavy rain is probable on the west coast of the South Island. It will be fair at first in eastern districts but fairly general rain will develop after from 16 to 24 hours. Temperatures will be mild. The anti-cyclone is passing slowly eastward of the North Island and a westerly depression has advanced on to southern New Zealand, while a cyclone has developed off the New South Wales coast. There will be moderate to strong northerly winds reaching gale force in places in and south of Cook Strait. Seas will be moderate to rough.
