HALL COMMITTEE ELECTION.
COMPETITIONS OF FARMERS.
At the annual meeting of the Alton hall committee Mr. H. Sutherland presided over a fair attendance. The bal-ance-sheet disclosed a credit of over £l7 The committee elected for tne ensuing year comprised Messrs H. Palmer, F. Nickel, F. Amon, L. Hunt, J. Gibbs, jun-, and A. Tayler. _ . A flag five hundred evening in aid of the Alton school funds was held at the residence of Mr. A. J. Gibbs, ten tables being engaged in play, ning table consisted of Mrs. S. Hunt, Miss D. Gudgeon and Mesdames K. Forbes and Edgar Sutherland. The judging in the hay and ensilage competitions under the auspices of the Alton branch of the Farmers’ Union has been commenced, Mr. C. Haynes, of the Agricultural Department, Hawera, and Mr. Parry, Manaia, being the judges. The settlers’ wives supplied lunch in the Alton Hall. The results are:Pit Ensilage.
