PRAISE FOR MALE CHOIR. MR. E. SHORT’S COMMENDATION. The following letter from Mr. Ernest Short, the Wellington baritone, has been received by the Hawera Male Choir:— “Would you kindly convey to your conductor (Mr. Webb) and your choir my kind regards and say how much I enjoyed their work. I may say that for such a small gathering of men your male choir is a credit to Hawera. I would suggest that you try to get more tenors. I consider that a weakness, which, if remedied, would make your choir fifty per cent, better. I was agreeably surprised. .The unaccompanied items were a feature of the evening. Each one that night was tested on a violin, and not once did the choir drop in tone. The balance was excellent, attack and release very good, and I feel sure that with plenty of practice your choir would go a long way to be beaten. I enjoyed their singing very much indeed,” HAWERA GOLF CLUB DRAW. SATURDAY’S BOGEY HANDICAP.
