MOLLISONS’ PLANS
THREE LONG FLIGHTS. WAITING ON THE BEACH. London, July 4., Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Mollison are at Pendine Sands, Wales,, awaiting favourable conditions to make a start on their ambitious world flights. The first , stage will be across the Atlantic from Wales to New York, and then, after a day’s rest, a return across the Atlantic, on a non-stop journey from. New York to Bagdad. The second stage will be an attempt to break the world’s record of 5340 miles non-stop, from London to Cape Town, made by Squadron-Leader Gayford and Lieutenant Nicholetts, of the Royal Air Force, in February. When they were landing at Pendine Sands yesterday, Mr. and Mrs. Mollison were hampered by thousands of holidaymakers, who swarmepl round the plane.
Mr. Mollison appealed to them not to damage the wings or fuselage. A special guard is standing on the machine dav and night. <
Hundreds of people are camping on the sands to watch the departure of the fliers. , '
