BOXING AT NEW PLYMOUTH

TOURNAMENT POSTPONED A WEEK. A' meeting of the. executive -of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night, when there, were present Messrs.. J. Garcia (chairman), W.. -N. Stephenson, R. Harvey, J. Horlor, C. McLeod, A. F. Aldie and E. J. Carr (secretary). It was reported that splendid nominations had been received for. the next tournament, which was to have been held in the Empire Theatre next Saturday. Owing, however, to the fact that the Wrestling Association had previously arranged a fixture for the same date it was decided to postpone the tournament for a week. It will be held on July 22.

>, It ,wh decided to extend the amateur nominations until next Saturday evening ■so as to give those who were taking part in- tournaments this week an opportunity of nominating. Notification was received from E.'.Griffen of his willingness to meet F. Roguski; the New Zealand champion, in a special bout as the “star” attraction of the? tournament;

A telegram was received from P. Hawes, who had promised the association the option of the return bout with Franklyn, asking whether the association would agree to his meeting. Franklyn at Gisborne. It was decided to accede to the request.

A vote of sympathy.was passed with Mr. V. S. Pruden, who is indisposed.
