CONGREGATION OF. 20,000

THE OXFORD MOVEMENT j.CENTENARY. CELEBRATIONS SCENES AT THE WHITE CITY BIG STADIUM TRANSFORMED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 9.25 p.m. London, July 10. There was a remarkable scene to-day at the White City Stadium, where 20,000 people attended the service inaugurating the celebration of the Oxford Movement’s centenary. It was the largest Anglican congregation ever assembled. The stadium, at which a dog racing meeting was held on Saturday night, was converted into a consecrated area with a magnificent altar, ornate ciborium, pulpit and throne for the Bishop of St. Albans, -who was deputising for the Bishop of London. The Primate preached at Canterbury Cathedral in connection with the centenary, which will be celebrated throughout the country during the coming week.
