INSTITUTE BUCHBB AND DANCE. GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. The Tikorangi Women’s Institute held a successful euchre party and dance in the hall on Friday night, when a large crowd had an enjoyable evening. Fourteen tables were occupied by euchre players and the play was very keen, the first prizes being won by Mrs. R. St. George (Waitara) and men’s, Mr. C. Foreman, the ladies’ consolation by Mrs. S. George (Waitara), the men’s consolation by Mr. O. Foreman, the ladies’ lucky number by Mrs. H. Cole and the men’s lucky number by Mr. P. Sarten. The hall was well filled with dancers, there being two' bus loads from Waitara. The music was supplied by Miss R. George, Waitara, while extras were played by Mrs. Gamer, Mrs. Mansfield, Miss L. Pruden and Miss I. Foreman., The floor was packed for the two novelty dances, the Monte Carlo being won by Miss J. Neild and partner (Waitara) and the luck spot by Miss D. Paulger and partner. The master of ceremonies was Mr. V. Foreman, while the committee and members of the institute had the management of the supper arrangements. This effort for raising funds for the institute was well patronised as about £lO was taken at the door.

The Tikorangi Sports Club held a tennis tournament on Saturday as its first effort to raise funds for the new tennis court. A good number of young people took part, all games being played on handicap. The results were as follow:— Girls:—First round: M. Yearbury won from J. Morey by default, A. Beaven won by default. Second round: Joyce Morey defeated Myrtle Yearbury 21—13, Grace Jury defeated E. Newman 21—18, Joyce Yearbury defeated Doris Jupp 21—18, A. Beaven a bye. Semi-finals: A. Beaven defeated Joyce Morey 21—17, Joyce Yearbury defeated Grace Jury 21—10. Final: Audrey Beaven defeated Joyce Yearbury 21—13. Boys:—First round: E. Riding defeated H. Joll 21—17, R. Hicks defeated A. Wildey 21—10, G. Foreman defeated M. Sarten 21—15, R. Smail defeated A. Davidson. Second round: R. Hicks defeated E. Riding, R. Smail defeated G. Foreman 21—15, S. McCann defeated F. Hunter 21—14, W. Davidson a bye. Semi-finals: R, Hicks defeated R. Smail 21—13, S. McCann defeated W. Davidson 21—16. Final: R. Hicks defeated S. McCann 21-13.

The Tikorangi School cricket team played Central School at Waitara on Saturday and emerged victorious, Tikorangi making 64 funs and Central 31. Miss Campbell, who has been visiting Mrs. A. O. Whitehead, has returned to her home at Auckland.

Miss Fergusson is the guest of Miss Rita Griffiths.

Mrs. Sole, Arapuni, is the guest of Mrs. Bert Jury. Miss Ila Soffe left yesterday for Te Awamutu.
