MANUTAHI NEWS

SCHOOL AND SETTLERS’ PICNIC, Almost all the children and a fair number of the adults of the Manutahi district were present at the school and settlers’ picnic on Friday. Ideal weather prevailed and a very pleasant day was spent. Tire picnic was held in the school grounds and in Mr. S. A. Denby’s paddeck. Under the charge of Messrs. W. Smart, H. Cornwall, R. D. Schwass and the teachers the children spent a happy day at games, races and competitions. Each child received a trophy, and fruit, drinks and sweets were distributed. Although a programme had been drawn up no adult events were decided as it was thought that the number present did not warrant this. Mr. S. A. Denby gave the use of his paddock and the hall committee the use of seats and urns.
