AWAKINO DOG TRIALS
TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIPS. Nominations for the Taranaki group championships, which are to be conducted by the Awakino Collie Club at its annual trials commencing on Thursday, will close with the secretary, Mr, Fraser Smith, at 8 o’clock to-night.. The cham-' pionshins are awaited with interest by all owners ,as well as lovers of the collie who are looking forward to witnessing some splendid exhibitions of canine saga- 1 city, A comprehensive programme has been arranged, including a heading,. bring back and hold in ring event, a head drive and yard competition, a huntaway and a spectacular two-dog event (huntaway, head and bring back). Each of the first three events carries the association’s championship medal, as well as the Awakino Collie Club’s solid silver cup to be won outright and £l3 in cash. The fourth event carries liberal cash prizes. In addition there are 14 club trophies to be competed for, so arranged that every competitor has a chance of winning a trophy. Mr. S, Voyce will be judge. The trials will be held on the property of the patron, Mr. W. D. Thomson, where the course will be sufficiently stiff to test both collies and their masters. Complete arrangements have been made fpr the smooth running of the trials and for the enjoyment of visitors. A meeting of the group executive will be held on Thursday evening.*
