ARGENTINE FARMERS’ PLIGHT

AGRARIAN STRIKE ANTICIPATED.

MEASURES FOR RELIEF WANTED..

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.

Rec. 10 p.m. Buenos Aires, Jan. 26. With the agricultural activities of the province of Santa Fe suspended in anticipation of an agrarian strike beginning in February, the Governor of Entre Rios province, which produces 37 per cent, of the Argentine’s maize and 14J per cent, of its wheat, arrived here to-day to urge the National Government to take immediate measures for the relief of the farmers of his province.

The big wheat growers in Buenos Aires and Cordoba provinces and. in the pampa territory are closely watching the reaction to the Entre Rios plea and it is feared here that unless the Government takes heed the strike will spread throughout the nation.
