TARIKI HALL IMPROVED

REOPENING FUNCTION.

(From'Our Own Correspondent).

To-night will mark the re-opening, of the Tariki hall. The Mayor of Inglewood (Mr. J. Gibbs) has . consented to. officiate. , The recent queen carnival held at Tariki with the idea of clearing the existing debt was such a success that above freeing the hall there was sufficient, funds "to enable extensive additions and alterations to be done. These having been completed, Tariki now has one of the most up-to-date dance halls in Central Taranaki. The ticket-box is on the left of the main doors, with the ladies’, cloak room on right. This is fitted with wash-hand basin' and large mirrors. On the left is the men’s cloak room. One enters the dance hall by doubler swing doors. The hall has been enlarged and has a removable stage at the far end whichcan be adjusted to suit any requirements. On the right is the supper or euchre room, which has been greatly enlarged and furnished with suitable tables and forms, giving ample room for patrons to play cards in comfort. This would also make a splendid party room for smaller functions. The kitchen adjoins The slide connecting the supper room and kitchen has also been enlarged. A very fine chip-heater has been installed in the kitchen, giving water for tea and over the sink. Spacious cupboards have been erected under the slide. The improvements should minimise the work in future for those who have charge of the catering arrangements. The contractor was Mr. McCarrison, StratMessrs. Harris and Son, Inglewoqd, were the plumbers and Mr. J. Collins, Hawera, the painter. Credit is also due to the hall committee, Messrs. G. Knowles (chairman), M. J. Cassidy, E, Mahon, K. L. Butler, T. Wright, L Loveridge (honorary treasurer) and W. W. Blair (honorary secretary).
