COMBINED SWIMMING CLUBS

ANNUAL COMMITTEE MEETING. The main object of the committee’s existence, the paying off of the debt to the borough council bn the baths improvements, was discussed, at the annual meeting last night of the New Plymouth Combined Swimming Clubs’ executive. There were present Messrs V.. Garth (chairman), A. Henderson and A. C. Sims (East End), E. J. Insull and K. J. Staunton (New Plymouth), R. Clayton and J. W. Moorhead, secretary (Fitzroy). It was decided to adhere to the date, February 25, applied for. as a combined clubs’ carnival date, as it would be impossible to finalise the polo competition before that date. The report, already published, was adopte’d. The balance-sheet showed receipts totalling £54 Os 9d, items being competition £26 16s. carnival £2O 16s, burlesque carnival £6 3s lOd and interest 4s sd. Expenditure included competition expenses £5 17s 6d, carnival expenses £ll 10s 7d, burlesque carnival expenses £2 10s lOd, and grant to borough council £3O, leaving a balance of £4 Is lOd. Mr. Garth congratulated the committee on its energy and said the statement showed very satisfactory results. The appointment of officials and the election of officers were left till the next meeting, when the raising of more money will be discussed. The secretary was Instructed to write to Mr. and Mrs. E. Meuli, baths custodians, thanking them for their work and enthusiasm. —
