A meeting of the Inglewood Cycle Club on Monday decided that at the opening of the track series early in January running races for men, women and children should be held in addition to the cycle races. The Inglewood Plunket Society benefited to the extent of £9 7s. 7jd. as the result of a mart and copper trail held on Saturday. A Christmas cake made and donated by Mrs. Evans was won by Miss N. Peterson. The annual meeting of the Inglewood Municipal Band was held on Friday, when Mr. J. Bumip presided over a very good attendance of bandsmen and public. The report stated that the band was in a good financial position despite the fact of having to overtake a deficit of £2O on the previous year’s working. It was gratifying to see a credit of £6 12s. 9d. Outstanding among the band’s activities had been the garden fete and electric light carnival held in the children’s park, and despite adverse weather the band had benefited by £2O. Mr. H. Patterson efficiently organised the carnival. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. J. Gibbs; president, Mr. S. Dunbar; vice-presidents, Messrs. P. G. Nops, J. McLean and J. Curd; auditor, Mr. J. Penn; conductor, Mr. C. Murfitt; drum-major, Mr. A. Jenkins; social committee, Messrs. H. Patterson, D. Humphries, R. Lamb, W. Seymour and C. Murfitt.
