“OLD BILL” PROTESTS
MEDALS GIVEN LT. COUNTRY’S DUTY UNFULFILLED.. London, Nov. 13. “Old Bill,” who in private life is Mr. William Busby, and whom the artist, Bruce Bairnsfather, used as his model after the war owing to his resemblance to his war-time creation, laid his five medals on the South African war memorial at Leicester to-day. Mr. Busby says he feels that the country has not fulfilled its duty to the exservicemen. He therefore registered “this humble protest.” He served in South Africa and France.
