AIM OF DISARMAMENT
DUTY TO MAKE SUPREME EFFORT.
MR. A. HENDERSON’S HOPES.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wellington, Nov. 9.
Some time ago the Dominion council of the League of Nations Union cabled Mr. Arthur Henderson, president of the Disarmament Conference, sharing his disappointment at the results of the Geneva Conference and expressing the hope that the next meeting would achieve at least President Hoover’s proposed reduction, and . urging an intensified appeal to public opinion to keep on demanding world peace through disarmament. A reply has been received from Mr. Henderson containing the following:--
“I am trusting that this second phase of the conference will produce a great harvest of concrete results, for I feel confident that none of the delegations can fail to recognise the grave responsibility .which is laid upon the conference and upon the bureau of the conference now in session. I believe it is our duty to make a’ supreme effort to achieve the full purpose for which the conference was brought about.”
