SUCCESS FOR CONCILIATION
STOREMEN AND PACKERS AWARD.
WOOL GRAIN AND SEED WORKERS.

Wellington, Last Night. A complete agreement was reached m the Conciliation Council to-day between the New Zealand storemen and . packers engaged in handling wool, grain and seed an 4 their employers. This was the second successful outcome of Conciliation Court negotiations in two days, Tuesday’s agreement affecting the warehouse storemen and packers. To-day’s meeting had been adjourned from October 20, when the parties to the dispute met but failed to come to terms. The new award, .which is for a term of one year, will provide the following rate of pay: Permanent hands, £8 12s 6.; weekly casuals Is 8d an hour. The previous rates were £4 5s gross, and Is lUd an hour gross respectively. Overtime will be paid at the rate of time and a quarter for the first two hours and time and half thereafter. This clause is one of particular importance in the case of wool and grain stores, and was subject to protracted discussion, a deadlock being avoided only after both parties had held several private conferences. The majority of tho remaining clauses will be tho same as in the previous award. The rates for junior workers will be the same as in the new award for the warehouse storemen and packers.
