LADIES’ LIFE-SAVING CLUB
OFFICIAL opening held.
Y.W.CA. CLUB AFFILIATED.
The official opening of the New Plymouth Ladies’ Life-Saving and Y.W.C.A. Swimming Club was held at the New Plymouth baths last night, there being an attendance of over 20 girls.
Miss E. Dowling, president of the New Plymouth Ladies’ Life-Saving Club, said she had hopes for a successful season. She was glad to see the Y.W.C.A.’s new club opening under such auspicious circumstances; Miss M.- Greenwell, New Plymouth secretary of. the Y.W.C.A., added to Miss Dowling’s remarks her opinion that such - branch of the association work as ■swimming deserved to be encouraged. In no other way could personality • be developed and character
built as in the ideals that were connected with, swimming. The water was warmer than it had been previously this season, and those, present practised life-saving and were coached at swimming. ,
