Rumours of intended Communist demonstrations throughout . the city in commemoration of the anniversay of the Russion Revolution led to the disposition of 100 police at various points, with reserves ready to go anywhere if needed. As a result, the intended demonstration and march were abandoned, and various small meltings passed off without incident. In Melbourne about 4000 Communists clashed with the police last night. Police Inspector Gorey was injured :n the face. Two Communists were sent to hospital and five were arrested.
