FARMERS’ DOMINION TOUR
AUSTRALIAN PARTY'S PLANS.
DUE AT AUCKLAND IN JANUARY.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wellington, Last Night.
Arrangements are well in hand for a tour of New Zealand by a party of Australian farmers and agriculturists in January. The tour has been promoted by the Bendigo Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Society and in organising the trip the society has had the assistance of the Department of Industries and Commerce and the Tourist and Publicity Department. The party is due at Auckland by the Mariposa on January 17. After visiting both the North and. the South Island the party will sail from Auckland by the Monterey a fortnight later. The main object of the tour is to enable Australian farmers to study pastoral and agricultural methods in the Dominion and survey the results of these methods on the farm and from farm to factory. The Dominion’s marketing organisations are also likely to be studied. The party hopes to visit dairy farms and tested herds, butter and cheese factories, experimental farms, sheep farms, grading stores and freezing works. As opportunity offers conferences will be held with various organisations connected with primary production.
The itinerary also provides for visits to well-known scenic resorts, including Rotorua and th© Waitomo Caves. The party will not bo restricted to farmers and pastoralists. It is hoped by the promoters that dairy factory interests and business men interested in agriculture will see their way clear to make the trip.
