MAN KILLED BY TAXI-CAB.

WIDOW AWARDED DAMAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An echo of a fatal accident in Whitmore Street on July 30 was heard la the Supreme Court to-day, when Mrs. Rene Edwards; widow of William Edwards, claimed £2501 damages from Paul Olsen Sabo, taxi-driver, under the • Deaths by Accident Compensation Act. Criminal proceedings against Sabo also arose out of the accident, and these were concluded last week, Sabo being sent to -gaol for 18 months. In to-day’s case the only question to go to the jury was the amount’Mrs. Edwards was entitled to recover as damages for the loss of her husband. The jury gave a verdict for Mrs. Edwards for £1350 damages and his Honour entered judgment for that amount with costs.
