RUMOURS OF A POSTPONEMENT. “BASED ON SOME FOUNDATION.” By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Ottawa, Oct. 25. No date had been fixed for the International Economic Conference, Mr. R. B. Bennett (Prime Minister) told Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King in the House on Tuesday. Press reports indicating a postponement of the., eonfereijce were based on some foundation, said Mr. Bennett. Some discussion had been going on in connection with the projected conference, but the particulars had not yet been made public. PREPARATORY COMMITTEE WORK. RESIGNATION OF SIR W. LAYTON. London, Oct. 25. Sir Walter Layton, editor of The Economist, has resigned from the preparatory committee of the Economic Conference, considering that his useful representation of the Government was precluded by divergent views regarding the implied endorsement of the compensating tariff, the principle of Ottawa agreements with Australia and Canada and other matters.
