London, Oct. 25. Sir Walter Layton, editor of The Economist, has resigned from the preparatory committee of the Economic Conference, considering that his useful representation of the Government was precluded by divergent views regarding the implied endorsement of the compensating tariff, the principle of Ottawa agreements with Australia and Canada and other matters.
