MELBOURNE INCOME TAX EVASION MOTOR FIRMS’ RESERVE FUND. Uy Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Melbourne, Oct. 25. The representatives of two city motor firms were fined to-day the record amount of £10,560 for income tax evasion. The defence explained that a special reserve fund was created in 1925, but later was found to be unnecessary, and was withdrawn. When a responsible official realised this was evading the tax he was afraid to inform the department.
