THE WENDY HUT

“LAST-LINE” COMPETITION.

Dear Tinks, - There were mot quite so many entries for this “literary” competition as there have been for other competitions. Those who entered sent in very <sver little lines, and in some cases the poem was beautifully written and mounted. The great idea in writing a “last line” is to see that it follows' on with the rest of the poem and makes sense; that is called sequence and, although many of you had clever lines, the sequence was not quite right. The winning “last lines” were written by:— Senior: Bernice Hunt, Midhirst. Intermediate: Jack Barrett, Opunake. ■ Junior: Beryl Hoben, New Plymouth. , A special prize goes to Valeria Wfiittleston, Stratford, for beautifully finished work. Her verses were set amidst a ■’ painted garden of spring flowers, v. Ith the Hut in the background. ’ ' ' ' With much love from us all. Your WENDY.
