MANAWATU WINS THE SHIELD.

A display of 800 lambs from seven districts of the North Island, which were entered for the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board competition, attracted much attention by Smithfield crowds. Wholesalers and retailers inspected them and the consensus of opinion is that the quality and appearance are expelThe judges awarded the challenge shield for °the best district to Manawatu. The prizes for the best pens were as follows: First pen (47) Wairarapa, second pen (20) Wairarapa, third pen (32) Manawatu. Lady Wilford, representing ®ie High Coinm'isE loner, was present.
