OPUNAKE SPRING SHOW

NARCISSI CUP TO MRS MOURIi ATTRACTIVE DECORATIVE WORK. -[JUDGES MAKE THEIR AWARDS. The annual spring flower show of th Opunake Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild wa held yesterday. Under a canopy o' brightly coloured streamers the hall dis played a choice selection of blooms, tin last few days of warmth having brought " (these out in a remarkable manner. The various stalls contained a wealtl fend variety of goods that buyers wen (unable to resist and good business re suited. The decorative work looked spec ially attractive and reflected the tasti of the exhibitors. A special display ol daffodils made by Mr. J. G. Weightman Feilding, for exhibition only was much (admitted for its many choice blooms. Of special interest was an exhibit Comprising 105 articles made by members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and sent by Mrs. W. E. Carter and Mrs. Rae. Arranged over the "* «tage these examples of handwork looked most attractive and were the subject of much favourable comment. Entries were well up to those of previous years and good competition resulted. The silver cup as points prize in the narcissi section was won by Mrs. D. Mourie, who also secured honours for champion bloom with “Swanley Perfection.” The officials were: Narcissi and cut blooms, Mr. Morshead, judge; Misses ■Mourie and Shepherd, stewards.
