NEW NAVAL COMMODORE

THE DOMINION DIVISION. ARRIVAL HERE NEXT YEAR. The appointment is announced of Cap*, tain Fischer Burges Watson, D. 5.0., as commodore of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy to succeed Rear-. Admiral Geoffrey Blake. Captain Burgee Watson is expected to reach New Zealand about April of next year and RearAdmiral Blake will return to England shortly after his arrival. In May of last year Captain Burgee Watson was appointed flag captain of H.M.'S. Nelson, flagship of the Atlantic Fleet, after being naval assistant to Admiral Hodges, Second Sea Lord. He was born in 1884 and is the eldest so of the late Rear-Admiral Burges Watson. He was a midshipman on H.M.S. Britannia in 1900 and a sub-lieutenant in 1903. He served on the Royal yacht in 1905, being promoted to the rank ef lieutenant. Captain Burges Watson became lieu-tenant-commander in 1913 and the following year he was made commander. He attained the rank of captain in 1921.
