TARANAKI LAND BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board commenced on Wednesday, July 22, there being present Messrs. W. D. Armit (chairman), C. J.'Ryan, N. R. Cleland, S. Blake and H. A. Foreman. Several applications for land were dealt with, of which one was declined, five deferred and the following approved: — Section 13, Block 111., Aria Survey District, C. R. Mayer; Section IT, Block V E' r ,mpnt Survey District, New mouth Sash and Door Company; Sections 8 and 9, Block V, Kapara Survey District, E. Parkinson; Sections 66 and 75, Manganui Township, R. H. Phillips; Sub. 1 of 2 of JO, Block V, Ohura Survey District, J. H. Roche; Section 6 Block VII, Ohura Survey District, T. Gadsbv; Section 3, Block VIII, Ohura Survey District, W. E. .Campbell.; Section 8, Block I,- Rang! Survey District, A. IT. Murray; Section 3, block HL Ilan"! Survey District, Carter and Morphy T Section 5, Block VIII, Tangitu Survey District, S.' Nelson. The board decided to withhold live sections from selection in the meantime, and that the following areas be re-offered shortly: — Allotment 5, Part Section IT, Fitzroy District, Section ss, Huia Settlement, Section 1, Block XIV, Mahoe Survey District, Section 8, Block XIV, Mahoc Survey District, Sections o and IU, Block XVI, Ohura Survey District, and Section 7, Block XV, Oraona Survey District. , Several applications for rental and other concessions were, considered. The lessee of Section 571, Town of New Plymouth, was offered a renewal of his lease thereover, whilst Mi’..L. A- Nolan was appointed- the boards arbitrator in respect of renewals of leases over Sections 542, 544, 546, and 547, Town of New -Plymouth. Proposals by the Clifton and Whangamoraona County Councils for the expenditure of accrued thirds and fittns were approved. One application for an advance under the provisions of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1929, was declined, whilst of eight applications received for financial assistance under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, one was declined, three, deferred and four recommended. Four lessees were granted teinporaiy exemption from residence on their hold-
ings. Six applications to transfer were considered of which four were approved, one recommended, and one deferred. In seven instances the board decided to recommend a readjustment of moitgages with a view to lightening the payments of mortgagors. Thirty-five further miscellaneous cases were dealt with, the board concluding its sitting at 5.30 p.m. on Fnday, July 24.
