PASSAGE BY UPPER HOUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Moving the second reading of the Dominion Life Assurance of New Zealand Ltd. Bill Sir William Hall-Jones said he hoped the Council would allow the Bill to go before the committee. of selection. The Bill was read a second time without debate.
Resuming the discussion on the Statute of Westminster the Hon. G, J. Garland said he did not regard the statute as a Bill of divorcement and he thought the Council should give it approval. At the same time he would not have supported the statute had it not been for the provision that it was not to apply to New Zealanu until Parliament so decided. After Sir Thomas Sidey had briefly replied the statute was agreed to. • The council rose at 3.15 p.m. until Wednesday.
