ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
BOMBAY ACTING-GOVERNOR STUDENT USES REVOLVER BUTTON DEFLECTS BULLET By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 11.3'5 p.m. Calcutta, July 22. An attempt to assassinate Sir. Ernest Hotson, acting-Governor of Bombay, vice Sir Frederick Sykes, who is on sick leave, was made at Poona this morning. He was inspecting Ferguson College when a student fired two shots from a revolver, but Sir Ernest escaped unhurt. One bullet etruck Sir Ernest Hotson’s coat and was deflected from the heart by a metal button. Sir Ernest personally overpowered his assailant.
