NEW OFFICERS INSTALLED. DRUIDS’ HALF-YEARLY MEETING. The half yearly meeting of the Hawera Lodge of Druids was held on Monday night, -when A.D. Bro. L. Hall presided over a large• number of visitors and brothers. In addition to' D.P. Bro. H. Kasper there were present sisters and ■brothers from the Stratford Lodge and brothers from Eltham, Inglewood, Aramoho and Feilding Lodges. Four new members were initiated. The

balance sheet and the auditor’s report were presented. Commenting on tJu» balance sheet P.D.P. Bro.. J. W. Harding congratulated the treasurer and secretary on the excellent state of the finances of the lodge and expressed pleasure that the lodge was in such a strong position that even in these hard times it would be able to look after the members adequately. The auditor, P.D.P. Bro, Warcup, also congratulated the brothers on the state of the lodge, which, he said, was financially strong and the books were well kept. He urged the brothers not to let the membership of the lodge go down in numbers; he could remember the time when it was • hard to get members to even fill the chairs, but the membership now showed a total of about 400, and he trusted that the roll would not again go below that number. On behalf of P.D.P. Bro. Adams, Grand Lodge delegate, who was unavoidably absent, P. Bro. Harding announced that with permission of the lodges the Grand Lodge had postponed the biannual conference until 1933, thus saving a sum of £4OO, which had been expended for the benefit of those brothers who had suffered from the Hawke’s Bay earthquake. He also announced that Grand Lodge had made available to the lodges the sum of £4OOO, which was to be used to pay the dues of those brothers who, owing to the present depression, 1 found themselves unable to keep up their payments. .This would enable, them to continue receiving such benefits as they might be entitled to. D.P. Bro. Kasper, of the Eltham Lodge, proceeded to install the new officers as follow: A.D., Bro. 8. N. Reece; V.A.D., Bro. F. Edwards; 1.G., Bro. W. Tippett; O. G.,'■Bro. 8. Hall; A.D. Bards, Bros. Ewington and G. Harding; V.A.D. Bards. Bros. Brown and R. Hayward.

Before 'the lodge closed D.P. Bro. Kasper presented to P.A. Bro. G. Harding a diploma certifying that that brother had passed the chair of A.D., together with the collar of the rank of P.A.D.

Subsequently a social evening was ■held. The following toast list was honoured: ‘‘Grand Lodge” (P.D.P. Bro. J. W. Harding —D.P. Bro. H. Kasper and P.D.P. Bro. Whitnell), “Newly Installed Officers” (Bro. D. Hicks—Officers), “Sister Lodges” (P.A. Bro. K. Cawsey— Messrs. Christiansen and Muir), “Visiters” (Bro. H. Townsley—representatives of Eltham, Stratford and Inglewood), “The Ladies” (Bro. Billows —Sister Cable) “The Press” (Bro. hl. A. Rowlands). An enjoyable concert programme included items by Davies’ Peter Pan Orchestra.
