LOAN OF FIVE MILLIONS

UNDERWRITING IN LONDON THE TERM SHORTER THAN USUAL. ALLOCATION OF THE FUNDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 9. Mr. G. W. Forbes to-day announced that the New Zealand loan of £5,000. 000 was underwritten last week in .London and placed on the market there. From a variety of causes the long term market is very difficult and under the present conditions it was deemed advisable to considerably shorten the term usually offered for New Zealand loans. In view of all the circumstances he considered that the terms of the loan must be regarded as satisfactory. The loan would be allocated ns follows: Public works, £3.000,003; electric supply, £1,000,000; and redemptions, £1,000.000.
