The Shell Oil Company’s tanker Paua arrived at New Plymouth yesterday morning from Wellington and discharged 100 tons of fuel oil and 700 tons of spirit. She sailed last night for Nelson. CANADIAN STATE SHIPPING. The total operating revenue of the Canadian Mercantile Marine for 1930 shows a decrease. .The revenue stands at 5,165,000 dollars, as compared with $.371,000 dollars for the previous year. Expenses are 5,999,000 dollars for 192.1, and there is a. deficit of 834,000 dollars, as compared with 879,000 dollars. Taking into account depreciation, reserve vessels and interest on Government advances the net deficit for the year is 5,844,000 dollars, as compared with 5,928,000 dollars in 1929. FEBRUARY SHIPPING LOSSES. The casualty returns of the Liverpool Underwriters’ Association for February shows that nine steam and motor vessels, aggregating 23,828 tons gross, were totally lost (all of foreign ownership) as compared with eleven vessels and 33,425 tons in February last year, and 20 vessels of 54,396 "tons in February, 1929. The partial losses numbered SSI as against 717 in February last year, 747 in February, 1929, and 651 in February, 1928. DEPARTURE DELAYED. The Westmoreland, which arrived at New Plymouth from Oamaru on Sunday afternoon to load 12,000 freight carcases of meat, 9000 boxes of butter and 2000 crates of cheese for London and United Kingdom west coast ports and was to leave to-day, has delayed her departure until to-morrow. PORT HUON’S CARGO. To complete unloading cargo from Hull, Antwerp, New York and Tampico the Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Huon sailed from Auckland last night for Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton and Dunedin. ALTERATIONS. •The agents of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have received adviee that the Herminius is now scheduled to leave Liverpool on July 4 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. The advice also states that tho steamer scheduled to leave Liverpool for Auckland on September 12 will be despatched on November 7. _She is due at Auckland on December 15. Another steamer which was to leave Liverpool for Auckland on October 24 is now scheduled to sail on January 3 and is due to arrive on February 16. RUAHINE IIEPORTS. Wireless advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the liner Ruahine states that she will arrivo from London and Southampton nex« Sunday afternoon. The vessel has passengers and mail for New Zealand and cargo for Auckland, Wellington and New Plymouth. After completion ot discharge she will load for her homeward at New Plymouth, Auckland, Timarti, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is to be despatched from Wellington on July IS for Southampton and London, via Panama. LOG IN SOUTH TARANAKI BIGHT. The master of the Totara reports that a large tree, about 60 feet long, and about five feet above water, was seen in the South Taranaki Bight. Bearings: Opunake Bay 353 degrees, distant nine and quarter miles; Otumutua Point -o degrees, distant six miles. Also another bearing, Egmont lighthouse 60 degrees, three and half miles.
