The Rev. Father Forrestal, Inglewood, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Mater Miseracordia Hospital, Auckland, last week, is making good progress towards recovery. Lord Stonehaven, formerly GovernorGeneral of Australia, has been appointed a director of the Union Bank of Australia, Limited, according to advice received by the bank’s inspector in Wellington.
Mr. A. D. Paisley has resigned from his position in the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Ltd., Wellington, to take over the affairs of Messrs. J. Inglis Wright, Ltd., an extension of the Dunedin firm, which will in future have its headquarters in Wellington. Mr. Albert Charles Hollingworth has been appointed general manager of the Australian Mutual Provident Society in succession to Mr. F. T. Bridges, who has reached the retiring age, says a Sydney cable. Mr. Hollingworth has been with the society since 1883. Mr. Frank V. Lysons, of Hawera, who was severely injured in an aeroplane crash at Woodbourne on Sunday, May 31, is reported by the Marlborough Express to be making slow but satisfactory progress towards recovery at the Wairau hospital.
The Rev. Solomon Katz, New Rochelle, New York, has been appointed Rabbi of Welliimton. He was formerly assistant minister to the Auckland congregation. In 1920 he returned to the United States to pursue his studies. He occupied the position of Rabbi to communities in Alabama, and later moved to New Rochelle, says a Wellington message. The death of Colonel S. J. Shillington, a prominent soldier who se rved with distinction at Gallipoli, in Palestine and France, is reported by cable from Sydney. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1919. He became a resident mMPstrate and acting judge at Rahaul, New Guinea, in 1926._ From, there he returncd last year owing to ill-healtn.
