ROMNEY STUD DISPERSAL.
NOTED FOUNTAIN STUD,
Owing to continued ill-health, the owner and founder of the famous Mahua Romney Stud at Feilding, Mr. E. E. Short, has arrived at a decision to disperse this renowned stud immediately. His father, the late. Ernest Short, was equally well-known as a breeder of Romney sheep, having founded the Parorangi Stud at Feilding. This stud has a world-wide reputation. Air. Short was closely ssociated with hi.s father in the management of the Parorangi Stud, and founded his own flock from it. The Mahua flock has shipped sheep to all parts of the world, and these sheep have met with wonderful success. Australian breeders have founded noted flocks from the Mahua Stud, and both Australian and Sydney Royal championships have been awarded to sheep exported from it. Prices as high as 600 guineas have been paid by Australian breeders for sires from Alahua. Practically all of the other leading flocks have been handed down from father to son, amid at no previous date in the history of the breed has such a leading flock been entirely dispersed. The whole of the stud ewes comprising this noted j flock have had individual pedigrees < since its Inception, and the flock will be offered to breeders under unique conditions in this respect. Catalogues are being prepared by the auctioneers, Alessrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs. Alurray Roberts and Co., Ltd. The sale is being held at short notice in order that the ewes in lamb may be shifted with absolute safety. Lambing will be due to commence towards tho end of August.
