FEILDING, 'JUNE 25, 1931. Owing to the ill-health of the owner, Mr, E. E. Short, a decision has been arrived at to sell immediately the world-renowned Mahua Romney Marsh Stud. This flock was derived from the famous Parorangi foundation flock. In the Dominion it has bred and exhibited many famous Royal and other Champions. Rams have been sold to Australia at prices ranging up to 600 guineas. Australian and Sydney Royal Championships have been won by Mahua bred sheep. Innumerable other prizes have been won there by sheep imported from Mahua or by sheep bred from rams and ewes from the flock. Important orders have been fulfilled for leadipg breeders of Romneys- Argentine, Uruguay, Chili, Falkland Islands, United States, California, Mexico, South Africa, etc., and to practically every State in the Commonwealth. Year after year, leading breeders throughout New Zealand have bred from Mahua sires. The complete and unreserved dispersal sale of the stud now presents the finest opportunity ever offered to Romney breeders to secure the best of the breed. Its quality and uniformity are outstanding. Its standard was never higher. The flock is one of the largest in the Dominion, comprising:— 950 Stud Ewee, each with individual pedigree. 25 Stud Sires. 25 Stud Ram Hoggets. 25 Stud Ewe Hoggets. Owing to the fact that the majority of the hoggets were shorn as lambs, only those in the w'ool will be offered. The balance will be sold without reserve in January, The flock rams have as usual been sold to annual clients whose orders will be fulfilled. AUCTIONEER’S NOTE.—We have just inspected the Stud. It is in excellent order. We would, impress upon breeders here and overseas that this is the first occasion in the history of the breed in recent times that one of its top flocks has been dispersed in its entirety. The conditions responsible are abnormal, due as they are to the ill-health of the owner, who is known throughout the Dominion not alone, as a leading 7 breeder, but as a fearless judge, having acted as adjudicator at all leading shows, including. the New Zealand Royal. The flock has now been thrown open to the inspectors of the New Zealand Romney Marsh Breeders’ Association for inspection and report. No flock has been more heavily culled annually. It has been bred since its inception on country 1200 feet above sea level where snow conditions are not unknown. The flock is in natural condition. Inspection in its natural environment is now invited. It will be trans* ferred to Feilding for convenience of sale. Illustrated posters and catalogues are now being prepared and will be obtainable from the auctioneers:— WRIGHT, STEPHENSON & CO., LT®., Stud Stock Salesmen.
