HEAVY YARDING AT ADDINGTON. VALTTF. OF BEEF ADVANCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. • Entries at the weekly market at Addington to-day were heavy iu all the major sections with the exception of fat cattle, and the sale generally was a firm one. The only actual advance on late rates was in . the fat cattle section, iu which best beef advanced a full £1 a head and ordinary beef correspondingly less. In the store sheep pens a good selection of lambs was offered, particularly open wool sorts, and the sale was a freer one, with values a little advanced. The adult sheep included 1200 ewes from Gisborne. It was a fairly steady gale, with no apparent change in values. The Gisborne ewes reached 14s 2d. Good rape lambs realised 10s to Ils Id, medium 8s 3d to 9s ’d, ordinary 6s to Bs, small and backward 3s to 5s 6d, good wether lambs 6s 6d to 8s 6d, good ewe lambs to Bs, backward ewe lambs 4s lOd/to 5s 3d, extra good two-tooth Romney ewes to 14s 4d, good 12s 9d to 1? 2d, two-tooth Romney ewes to 10s 6d, good 6 and 8-tooth Romney ewes 9d,to 8s 6d, sound-mouthed 3s 6d to 4s, ordinary two-tooth crossbred ewes t ’ Bs, good 6 and 8-tooth half bred ewes 6s to Bs, aged ewes to Is 7d, good Romney cross wethers to 7s Bd, good halfbred wethers to 7s ' lOd, backward to 4s 3d. An entry of 4800 fat lambs met with a firm sale, with no alteration on late rates. Extra prime lambs sold up to 18s 4d, prime 15s 6d to 16s 6d, medium 13s 6d to 255, light 10s 6d to 13s, store lambs 8s 6d to 10s. With an entry of 5009 fat sheep the sale was irregular, but prices were on a par with thos of last week. Export buyers operated on the new schedule of -Jd to Id for ewes and IJd to 24d for "wethers. Extra prime heavy wethers sold up to 17s 7d, prime heavy 15s to 16s 6d, medium 13s to 15s, second quality 9s to 12s 6d, light 6s 6d_ to 8s 6d, extra prime ewes to 13s 4d, prime 10: to Ils 6d, medium 8s to 9s 6d, light 5s 6d to 7s 6d, aged 3s 6d to ss. The fat cattle yarded comprised 318 head.- Choice heavy beef made 32s to 35i per 1001 b., best medium weight 30s to 345, plain heavy beef 25s 6d to 295, cow beef 23s to 26s 6d, secondary 19s to 225, and rough down to 15s. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers to £l6 17s 6d, heavy £l2 to £l4 15s, medium weight £8 10s to £ll, medium quality £6 15s to £B, light to £6 ss, extra prime heifers to £ll 17s 6d, prime £8 to £lO ss, medium £5 15s to £7 10s, light to £4 10s, extra prime cows to £lO 12s 6d, prime £7 10s to £9 15s, medium £4 10s to £7, light and aged to £4. . The entry of vealers was a large one, but the quality was very niixe.d- Butchers’ sorts sold at late rates. The top price was £5 13s 6d. Store cattle were a poor entry and n'o straight lines were forward. Two-year-old steers sold up to £4 7s 6d, 18-months to £2 10s, 15-months mixed calves up to £l, fresh cows up to £4' 10s, and potting bulls up to £5. The yarding of dairy cattle was an average one and the quality was very indifferent: There was a slight easing in values for secondary sorts, but anything promising held late rates. Values were 1 : Good second and third calvers £9 to £lO, medium sorts £7 10s to £8 ss, aged and inferior' £2 5s to £5 15s, good heifers £8 Iss to £l2, medium £7 10s to £B, others £5 os to £7. The entry of fat pigs was larger than last week and once again it was made up mainly of West Coast and North Island consignments. The market was about on a par with last week. Values were: Choppers £2 5s to £5 16s, baconers 47s to 575, heavy baconers £3 to £3 6s 6d, average price per pound 4Jd to 5Jd; porkers 35s to 38s, heavy porkers 39s to 445, average price per pound s|d to 6Jd. There was a very small yarding of store nigs and little alteration occurred in prices. Values were: Weaners 9s to 12s, extra good to 18s, slips 14s to 16s, small stores 18s to 225, larger to 30s. The demand was steady and late rates again ruled. Cow ahd heifer beef was also yarded in about the usual numbers, the demand being steady, with values on a par with late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 27s per 1001 b., choice and prime, 24s to 265, just killable 21s to 235, prime young cow and heifer beef 23s to 265, just killable 12s to 225.. The offering of lambs was a heavy one, but the bulk of the entry comprised store lines.. AU prime lambs were in good demand and sold at late rates. Heavy prime lambs realised 14s 3d to 15s, medium 13s to 14s, light 10s to 12g 9d. There was an average yarding, of calves, and although the quality as a whole was good, prices shewed a decline on those ruling a* week’s market. Runners brought £2 10s to £3 ss, heavy vealers £2 4s to £2 16s, medium £1 8s to £2, light £1 5s to £1 7s, rough 6s to 19s, small 3s to ss. Pigs were yarded in average numbers. Baconers sold at late rates to slightly firmer, while porkers were inclined to be a little easier. Choppers made £2 10s to £3 9s, heavy- baconers £2 10s to £2 16s, medium £2 5s to £2 9s, fight £2 to £2 4s, heavy porkers £1 16s to £1 19s, medium and light £1 10s to £1 16s, stores and medium slips 16s to £l, small 10s to 16s, weaners 8s to 13s.
