.Samples of wheat are now freely offering to merchants and millers. An interesting Lhture is that despite the fact of an irregular season some milling wheat has been Offered of a quality which has not been seen by millers for a number of years. The bbst yields to date have come from North Canterbury. The effect of the hard season has been evidenced more in tae crops of Mid Canterbury. Recent favourable weather has been benc-le-al to the later crops, and reports indicate that those will produce some good yields. There is little interest in the market for milling wheat. Any business is on the basis of 5s 3d to 5s 4d a bushel on trucks. The quotation for fowl wheat, has firmed a little and to-day is 5s Id f.0.b., sacks extra. The oats market remains quiet. Algerians are quoted at Is lOd to 2s a bushel on trucks. A Gartons are worth 2s 3d on trucks and B 2s.

The chaff market is unchanged'at £4 7s 6d a ton f.0.b., sacks extra. The potato market is firm, with no ghange in values to report. Speculative business is on the basis of £4 7s 6d a ton f.0.b., sacks in, which is equivalent to about £3 7s 6d a ton on trucks. The quotation for July-August-September delivery is £5, f.0.b., sacks in. The onion market is firm, with growls inclined to hold. The quotation on trucks to growers for March-April delivery is £4 10s to £4 15s. Australian supplies reaching Auckland and Dunedin are making sales of prompt onions difficult at present values. .
