WORLD TRADE IMPROVING
OPINION OF EXPERTS. MOVEMENT TAKES TIME. ,< ' - The January issue of the Australian Business Conditions Bulletin states that the general opinion of experts throughout the world tends to the belief that ♦he bottom of’the depression has been reached and that a definite improvement, a'though somewhat retarded, may be looked for. It should be borne in mind, states the Bulletin, that it . takes some little time for a marked upward movement to proceed after a severe depression like the present one. There are numerous hesitancies and false starts, and it is only when markets become denuded of accumulated essential stocks that a definite forward movement can proceed, in Australia, the Bulletin states, many groups of industries have shown a distinct tendency toward improvements It singles opt breweries, foodstuffs, department and drapery stores, and engineering.
