ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The nineteenth annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, being the 109th anniversary of the atr rival in New Zealand of the first Methodist preacher, the Rev. Samuel Leigh, will be < pened in Dunedin on Thursday evening, when the first item of business will be the election' of tho president for 1931. This 1 has been rendered necessary ing to the serious illness of the president-elect, the Rev. W. Greenslade, who will bo unable to undertake his duties during the year. Five students, who have completed their three years in the Theological College, will be received for appointment whilst there are eight candidates offering for the Ministry and six for work in tho Foreign Mission Fields. In addition seven probationers are offering themselves for ordination. At the missionary demonstration to be held in the town hall th > principal speaker will be Dr. E. T. Sayers of tli“ Solomon Inlands. The Rev. Clarence Eaton, of New Plymouth, and the Rev. E. S. Einmitt, M.C., of Hawera, will represent the TaranakiWanganui district, whilst the Rev. R. B. Gosnell will iittend as the conference journal secretary.
